Class action filed against Pelephone
Tel Aviv, Israel – January 16, 2019 – Bezeq The Israel Telecommunication Corp., Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) announced today that the Company was notified by its subsidiary, Pelephone Communications Ltd. ("Pelephone"), of a claim and motion to recognize the claim as a class action which was filed against Pelephone in the Central District Court of Tel Aviv-Yafo.
The suit alleges that Pelephone forces any customer who purchases from it, via the computer or through a mobile phone app, an overseas communications package - which includes calls and/or broadband Internet (hereinafter: the "Package"), to consent to receiving advertising messages from it, among other things, contrary to sections 4G and 30A of the Communications Law (Bezeq and Services), 1982.
The suit noted that the amount of the class action is over NIS 2.5 million, but it cannot be accurately estimated.
Pelephone is reviewing the details of the claim and, at this stage, it cannot, nor can the Company, evaluate its chances.
