Notice of Industrial Action and Court Decision
Tel Aviv, Israel – February 22, 2020 – Bezeq The Israel Telecommunication Corp., Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) (the "Company") announced today that further to the Company's Immediate Report dated January 23, 2019 concerning notice of a strike or lockout at the Company, inter alia, on account of the demand by the employees’ representatives for negotiations to sign a collective agreement concerning the transfer of control of the Company, a description of the matter in section 2.9.6 of the Chapter on the Description of the Company’s Business in the 2018 Periodic Report, and the update of that section in the Company's quarterly report for the period ended September 30, 2019, an Immediate Report is provided.
On February 20, 2020 the employees’ representatives announced taking industrial action due to the same labor dispute on account of a lack of progress in negotiations for a collective agreement. According to the announcement, the following actions will be taken: cancellation of Friday shifts (of customer service technicians in the Private Division), freezing of activity concerning fiber optics, stopping of preparation of financial statements and a prospectus, and stopping of invoices to private customers. Similarly, it was proposed by the employees’ representatives in the same announcement that the Company’s management should speed up and progress negotiations on the agreement in the immediate term in order to avoid an escalation of the industrial action.
The Company applied immediately to the Labor Court with an application for an injunction against the industrial action, and following a hearing held during the night of February 20, 2020 the court gave a ruling on the agreement of the parties, whereby the parties will negotiate and the employees’ representatives will not take any industrial action until March 1, 2020.
