Public telephones and free calls - Bezeq's contribution to the residents of "tent city"
Bezeq has contributed about 20 telephone lines and the cost of the calls for the residents of the new "tent city" erected in the Exhibition Grounds in Tel Aviv. The Ministry of Defense opened the site yesterday for about 2,000 residents from the north who have been forced to leave their homes.
Bezeq, requested by the organizers to provide communications for the site, was happy to be able to oblige, and notified them that in order to help people maintain contact with their families and friends, about 20 lines would be installed for free use – both public telephones and regular phones that were installed at the site. All domestic calls on these lines, whether to Bezeq numbers or cellular numbers, are free of charge.
The phones and free calls are yet another contribution by Bezeq for residents from the north – following the networking of about 500 public shelters for free internet and telephone, summer activities for kids in industrial plants, a virtual summer camp on the internet, "all in" visits to Bezeq facilities, and so on.
Ika Abravanel, Deputy CEO of Bezeq, said that the company's activities during the war were of exceptionally high quality, both professionally by maintaining service for everyone even under fire, and from Bezeq's involvement in and contribution to the community. "Bezeq employees in the north have worked ceaselessly to provide communications during these past days, often at great personal risk from the rockets and missiles fired by Hizbollah. They have proved their professional superiority and I am very proud of them. The company's welfare activities are also a source of pride for all of us – activities that can serve as a model for many companies in Israel," said Abravanel.
